The manager of a jewellery store and two others were arrested in connection to a theft case in Samarth Nagar, Aurangabad on Wednesday night. The prime culprit, Ankur Rane and 2 others have been accused of stealing 58kg gold from the store.

The theft was discovered when Vishwanath Pethe, the owner of the store called the accused to inspect the store's gold deposits. When he found a massive discrepancy, Rane said that he has given it to a family for the time being and will soon be returned. However, when the gold was not returned after 6 months, the owner threatened to register a complaint with police. It was then that Rane confessed to his crimes. "I had given the gold to Rajendra Jain and Lokesh Jain. In return, I was going to get 25% of the total amount," said Rane. Both Rajendra Jain and Lokesh Jain, who are reported to be co-conspirators in the theft, have been arrested.

"Only 25kg gold has been located. Investigations are going on. We will soon recover the gold," said Police Inspector Shrikant Nawale.

Rane had been working as the manager of the store for the last 8 years.
