India Budget 2019: Railway infra would need an investment of Rs 50 lakh crore between 2018 and 2030, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman

In her speech during presentation of Union budget in Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, ‘Railway infra would need an investment of Rs 50 lakh crore between 2018 and 2030.’ Nirmala Sitharaman became first woman Finance Minister to present Union Budget in Parliament. Sitharaman was named as FM in the NDA government 2.0. Sitharaman tabled the Economic survey 2019 in Parliament on July 4, 2019. The NDA government aims to make India $5 trillion economy by the year 2024-25. In absence of the then FM Arun Jaitley, the interim budget was presented by Piyush Goyal on February 1, 2019.
