The budget came in for sharp criticism from the Congress Parliament members from Telangana for giving nothing to the State, and they blamed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for his ‘failure’ in getting the required projects and funds. Malkajgiri MP A. Revanth Reddy termed it as a favour done to the northern States while ignoring the southern States that contribute more revenue to the nation. “There is no mention of any support to the IT sector that provides huge employment and drives the service sector economy. This is because south dominates the IT sector,” he said.
Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkata Reddy said ignoring Telangana projects and promises made in the Bifurcation Act directly reflects the failure of Mr. Rao. The TPCC president and Nalgonda MP, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, said the budget was a huge setback for farmers, unemployed youth and industries with the government promising nothing for them.
The TPCC working president, Ponnam Prabhakar, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman failed to give anything to the Telugus though she was the daughter-in-law of Telugu States. Hike in fuel prices was nothing but deceiving people who voted for the party.
