A 22-year-old medical student died at Government Medical College Hospital on Thursday, a day after he was rescued from a temple pond at Palakkottuvayal in Kozhikode city.
Mohammed Aslam, a native of Alappuzha district, was a student of the 2017 MBBS batch of the medical college. He had gone for swimming at the pond with some of his friends on Wednesday evening. Aslam was rescued by local residents and Fire and Rescue Services personnel when he lost control of himself and was about to drown.
Aslam was the State committee member of the Muslim Students Federation’s student outfit for medical students.
