Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman left her official residence today to present the Union Budget 2019 in Parliament. Sitharaman was seen carrying a file in her hands, which is unusual as normally the Finance minister carries a briefcase to present the budget in Parliament. This will be her first budget as Finance minister. On July 4, Sitharaman tabled Economic Survey 2019, which showed that the government has projected a growth rate of 8 per cent to make India a $5 trillion economy by the year 2024-25.
