BENGALURU: A 32-year-old man and 28-year-old woman from
Tamil Nadu have allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in their room in a private resort near Madanayakanahalli, Nelamangala.
Srinivas and Satya Jyothi, both employees of a private bank at Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu, were found dead in their room by police around 3.30pm. Resort staff alerted police as there was no response from their locked room. In a suicide note written in Tamil, they had stated that no one is responsible for their death.
The duo had checked in on Wednesday evening and were last seen in the dining room at 9.30pm. Srinivas had told the resort staff that they were on a pilgrimage.
"They did not come out in the morning for breakfast. We thought they must be asleep after the journey. However, we grew suspicious when they did not turn up for lunch. At 2.30pm, we called the intercom of the room, but received no response. The mobile phone of Srinivas was switched off. We alerted police who broke open the door," a resort representative said.
They were found dead on the bed. "They seem to have consumed poison. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were upset as their families had opposed their marriage," police said.
