Three days after it was left disabled, after overshooting the main runway of Mumbai airport, a SpiceJet Boeing 737 aircraft has finally been moved.

It was successfully brought out from the soft rain-soaked soil by a team led by Air India Engineering Services Ltd (AIESL) at 11.30 p.m. on Thursday.

Thereafter, Friday morning was spent in moving the aircraft along the main runway. AIESL officials said that the initial plan of towing it to the Air India hangar was abandoned as airport operator, the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) wanted to reopen the main runway at the earliest available opportunity.

“Weather condition has not been great. The team is exhausted. For now, the aircraft will be parked at a bay near the domestic terminal. Moving it to the hangar will be done at a later date,” an official said.
