Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna said that people in the low-income group would get 3,000 sites in Hassan city. The district administration will purchase 20 acres of land to provide them with the sites, he told reporters in Hassan on Wednesday.

The Hassan City Municipal Council had invited applications from the public for sites. Around 10,000 people submitted applications for 3,000 sites. “Hassan Urban Development Authority will provide 500, while the Karnataka Slum Development Board will provide another 600 sites. For the remaining, the district administration will purchase 20 acres of land,” he said.

Construction workers, cleaners, APMC workers, and others engaged in similar jobs would get the sites. The administration would not decide the beneficiaries under political pressure. “The beneficiaries will be chosen through a lottery dip at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in front of all the applicants,” he said.

Title deeds

The district administration has decided to issue title deeds to 2,114 people, who had built houses on revenue sites in Hassan CMC limits. The CMC had invited applications from those who had built houses on revenue sites and stayed there for 10 years. “All of them will get title deeds,” the Minister added.

Deputy Commissioner Akram Pasha, CMC Commissioner B.A. Paramesh, and others were present.
