Man knocked out from behind and robbed of Mercedes in Richmond
A man walking down the street in Melbourne's inner south-east has been bashed unconscious from behind and robbed of his luxury Mercedes-Benz.
Police were told thugs followed the man as he walked along Waltham Street in Richmond and knocked him out with an unknown object about 6.30pm on Monday.
When the man woke up, the offenders had fled and his black Mercedes CLK 63 was gone.
The shocking incident comes just days after another public appeal for information to catch two men who carjacked a 53-year-old woman in Bundoora, in Melbourne's north.
That ordeal left Angela, who did not want her face or last name revealed for fear of reprisals, newly fearful of the city she had called home for 30 years.
The men remain on the run after stealing her grey Audi A4 on Scholar Drive as she walked to the gym for her weekly yoga class on June 28.
She said the men, wearing hoods and bandannas across their faces, approached her calmly about 8pm after she got out of the car, registered "V INK".
When one of the men reached into his pocket, Angela, alone and with no sign of anyone coming out of the gym to help, handed over the keys.
A blue late model Range Rover Sport, with no number plates, drove off behind them.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed either incident or who had seen any of the cars to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. They could also submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
