Dahod dist Ashramshala student dies of snakebite

Kalpesh Katara’s post-mortem report confirmed snakebite as the reason behind his death
Vadodara: A police complaint was filed by the ‘ashramshala’ officer of Dahod district against the principal and administrator of an ‘ashramshala’ residential school in Bakhrol village of Santrampur taluka after a student died from snakebite. This is the second such incident in the tribal area of central Gujarat.
The complaint filed with Santrampur police states that the student, identified as Kalpesh Katara, had died on Wednesday and the post-mortem report concluded snakebite as the reason behind his death. The complaint states that the incident had taken place due to negligence of the principal and the administrator.
The complaint states that the functionaries of the group that operated the school was responsible to provide necessary facilities at the school. It adds that the incident had taken place as necessary facilities were not provided in accordance with the various circulars.

On July 2 night, seven-year-old Karamsing Rathwa died after he was bitten by a snake at a residential school in Pavi Jetpur. A student of Shri Vasudev Ashram Shala, Rathwa had gone to the kitchen to wash his dinner plate when the snake bit him. An unconscious Rathwa was rushed to the health centre at Jabugam, but he succumbed on the way.
According to sources, Rathwa was admitted to the school in Raipur village in the beginning of last academic year as his father’s economic condition is not good.
