2 undertrials caught using phone in jail

Vadodara: Two inmates of Vadodara central jail were booked after a smartphone was found from them. The two include Priyakant alias Bhailu Solanki who had murdered his former girlfriend and her mother at Sayaji Park on Ajwa Road in April. The other is a PASA accused, Jigar Rathod, from Dehgam in Gandhinagar.
According to jail officials, on Wednesday a sepoy saw suspicious activities near barrack 14 following which a check was conducted there. Solanki was caught red-handed while hiding a smartphone in a toilet behind yard 12. When asked, he admitted that the phone belonged to Rathod and he had only borrowed it. Later, Rathod too admitted that the phone belonged to him, but did not reveal its source.
A formal complaint was registered at Raopura police station on Wednesday. Cops said that they will bring the duo to the police station for interrogation after taking court’s permission.
