A two-year-old boy has been left alone in a sweltering hot day-care centre after teachers locked up and left for the day.
Mary Aiavao, former head teacher of Rotorua's E-Babies Early Learning Centre has been reprimanded by the Teaching Council of New Zealand after leaving the boy inside and locking up the centre in 2017.
Ms Aiavao left the centre at 3.30pm after she helped another student collect a stroller and failed to check the rooms for any other students.

When the boy's mother arrived shortly after, she was unable to get in but she could see her son asleep on a pillow through a window.
Staff from an one site primary school let her into the centre.
Upon entering the room, the mother found her son unharmed, but said the room was 'stifling hot'.
Ms Aiavao was stood down immediately and eventually resigned from the centre.
She was fined and censured by the Teaching Council for serious misconduct, with conditions placed on her practicing certificate for 18 months.
She said she was 'disappointed and ashamed that she did not do the last check of the day more thoroughly', according to the teaching council report.
