LONDON: An Irish international human rights lawyer, who was sentenced to six months in jail for abusing an Air India crew, has been found dead, days after leaving prison, local media reported.
Simone Burns, 50, was released two weeks ago from the Bronzefield women's prison. "The death is not being treated as suspicious and next of kin have been informed. The matter has been passed to the coroner's officer," local media reported quoting Sussex Police spokesman.
Simone was caught on camera making abusive rants at Air India crew. The lawyer was served three bottles of wine with breakfast soon after the November 11 flight, AI-131 (Mumbai-London), took off.
She began her racist rant when the crew refused to serve her the fourth bottle. Thereafter, for a long period during the flight, she hurled racial abuses at the crew and at one point, spat on a crew member, swore at her and violently squeezed her arm.

TOI was the first to write about the incident in a report carried on November 14, along with a video clip of the abuse the crew suffered at the hands of the unruly passenger. According to UK media reports, Burns was arrested after the plane landed at Heathrow Airport.
Burns, 50, was found guilty by a UK court and was sentenced to six months in April.
