The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday lodged a case based on the complaint of a 1993 Mumbai blast victim, who sought compensation for the medical treatment he has required over the years.

Lodging the case, NHRC observed on the file: “The complainant has alleged that the victim is suffering from mental agony and heavy financial losses due to the medical treatment which has cost him around ₹ 40 lakh.

“The complainant has also alleged that despite the victim patiently writing to the various authorities who have a legal and moral obligation to help the victims of terror attacks, no action has been taken and this has been an extreme form of apathy, neglect and indifference.”

The complaint has also asked for the drafting of a uniform national policy for victims of terror victims.
