LUCKNOW: Continuing his government's recent anti-graft policies,
Uttar Pradesh chief minister
Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched a 24X7 toll-free
helpline, that will report directly to him, for people to register
complaints and air grievances against errant government officers from anywhere in the state.
The CM helpline
1076 will be dealt by staff of CM's office. This come a day after the government said that it has voluntarily-retired 201 inefficient officials -- either due to corruption taint or having crossed 50 year of age -- from 72 departments while also announced to mete out harsh punishment to 417 officials from the departments including home, revenue, finance and power.
The CM said that the latest move was an addition to the existing Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) known as Jansunwai portal, that was dealing with complaints on website.
"The new system was on a testing mode for last one year. I was delighted to see the response of people from far away corners sharing their complaints and redressal through IGRS. Now we have introduced 1076 helpline for a round-the-clock monitoring of complaints and providing them personal contact," CM told a gathering at Lok Bhawan here.
The CM said that the helpline would also work as a self-monitoring mechanism on government's officers' availability, attendance and their work performance.
"I will attach the ACRs (annual confidential reports) of officers and their attendance based on this helpline. It will be a 360 degrees mechanism. That will monitor the government performance as well," he said
"After registration of a complaint, its proper follow-up will be done within the 3-4 days to make sure that it is redressed," the chief minister said at the launch.
He, however, warned that action would also be taken against those sending fake complaints and raising false alarms against honest officers.
Yogi was accompanied by UP deputy chief minister
Dinesh Sharma and Mohsin Raza, the minister of state for science and technology, electronics and IT.
The CM said that his government would not tolerate any laxity on the part of officials in redressing public grievance.
He said that the helpline has generated direct employment for 500 officials already, who would work in the call centre with a capacity of handling 80,000 inbound and 55,000 outbound calls on a daily basis.
Stern action will be taken against the officials of the department concerned in case the complainant is not redressed, the chief minister said.
Sharma said that with the joint efforts of state and central government, efforts will be made to make this move more effective and successful across the state.
"With the process of e-tendering, we have tried to bring transparency," he said.
