Man beaten to death over affair

Rajkot: An 18-year-old youth paid with his life for a love affair in Kalambadi village of Lodhika taluka in Rajkot district on early Thursday morning. Jayesh Vegadava was beaten to death allegedly by four members of the girl’s family early Thursday morning.
Police said Vegadava had an affair with the sister of one of the accused Ankit Vanar. He however did not approve his sister’s relationship with Vegadava.
“Vegadava often used to meet Vanar’s sister, which angered Vanar. On the fateful night, he had gone to meet Vanar’s sister along with his cousin Dilip. When Vanar came to know about this, he called his family members — Vishal Vanar, Narvir Vanar and Gajendra Vanar — who attacked Vegadava and Dilip with sticks and wires,” said H M Dhandhal, sub-inspector with Lodhika police station.
After beating up Vegadava and Dilip black and blue till early Thursday morning, the assailants eventually let them go. While Dilip drove the bike, Vegadava sat pillion behind him. On the way, Vegadava had a vertigo and fell down from the bike, following which Dilip took him to Gondal Civil Hospital, where Vegadava was declared brought dead.
Police have booked the four accused — Vanar, Vishal, Narvir and Gajendra — on the complaint of Dilip, who has been admitted to Gondal Civil Hospital. The accused are yet to be arrested.
Due to the controversy related to the jurisdiction of Gondal taluka, Kotadasangani and Lodhika police stations, the case was registered after 12 hours.
