Yadvendra Singh, guilty of
embezzlement of Rs 35 lakh government scholarship fund and sought a prosecution sanction against him from the state government on Thursday.
The probe has also revealed role of two bank employees, two social welfare department employees and four other people who operated fake educational institutes in Unnao, and
Akbarpur were also found to be hand-in-glove with Yadvendra Singh.
Talking to TOI, Inspector EOW, Sant Kumar Dubey, who is also the investigation officer of the case, said that then district social welfare officer Rakesh Raman on August 8, 2009 had lodged an FIR at Kotwali in
Unnao district against unidentified persons for financial bungling worth Rs 35 lakh by transferring funds in the name of scholarships.
He said the complainant had accused the funds were transferred in the name of schools which originally were never existed on the ground.
He said the case was transferred to the EOW on January 22, 2013 and was under investigation since then.
He said the financial bungling were held during the time period of 2007 and 2009 during which the present deputy director of Backward Welfare department, Devipatan division, Yadvendra Singh was posted as district social welfare and backward welfare officer in Unnao.
Dubey said the investigation revealed that Yadvendra Singh himself was involved in the financial bungling and used his forged recommendation for clearing and transferring government funds under scholarship schemes for backward students studying in government schools.
He said the probe revealed that Singh with help of eight others transferred funds of Rs 28 lakh in the name of Maa Sharda Gyan Mandir, Akbarpur, Dabauli, while, Rs 2.16 lakh in the name of Adarsh Bal Vidya Mandir,
Civil Lines in Unnao and Rs 4.70 lakh in the name of Bhartiya Siksha Sadan, Awas Vikas Colony also in Unnao.
