Economic Survey gives direction towards $5 trillion economy: Chief Statistician of India

The Economic Survey has addressed issues of unshackling Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to increase productivity and create more jobs according Chief Statistician of India, Pravin Srivastava.

He said that the survey emphasises on various sectors of economy and provides a direction to overcome the constraints as India marches towards a $5 trillion economy. He said that the survey has also given various strategies on boosting investment to fuel the virtuous cycle of economic growth, improved productivity, boosting consumption and channelizing savings into investment.

The survey also addresses the critical issue of harnessing the demographic dividend towards a more productive workforce.

It has looked at the success of key Government programs like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Swachh Bharat Mission and how deepening these programs will improve the health outcomes in years to come, Srivastava said.
