The company informed that it will operate three weekly flights between the destinations.
Flybondi is the third low cost airline to fly to the country, the first being Chile’s Sky Airline which started operating in November last year followed by European Norwegian Air.
The authorization was granted on July 2 by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
According to Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, Brazil’s Tourism Minister, this is yet another step towards increasing air connectivity, in addition to boosting the interest of foreign companies in operating in the Brazilian market.
“The new operation brings more low-cost offers to travelers and is part of a new tourism strategy that puts the industry at the center of the country’s economic agenda. We live in an extremely favorable moment to the business environment in Brazil, with a direct impact on the life of the population, the increase in the availability of flights and the consequent reduction of costs,” the minister said.
According to ANAZ, the operational authorization is the last step for a foreign company to start regular flights in Brazil, allowing the company to register the routes and start selling air tickets.
The CEO of Flybondi, Sebastián Pereira, emphasizes that this will be the first of the destinations in Brazil. He also says that the new route has great potential for both Brazilians, because they will have the only low-cost option to reach Argentina, as well as the Argentines, who will now be able to fly to Brazil with the lowest rates in the market.
“We are very happy to launch a new international destination and reaching it in such a short time is a major success for the company and for the industry. We are an airline with a long term proposal and regional vision. We hope to add other routes soon to give greater connectivity to our country and the freedom to fly to thousands of people,” Pereira said.
Flybondi carries over 1.6 million passengers on 26 routes and 16 destinations.
