Two-day conference on Indian banking system: Way forward on the current crisis to be held

PUNE: A two-day conference on Indian Banking System: Way Forward on Current Crisis is set to be organised at the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) on July 5 and 6. The conference will see discussions on the current crisis in the Indian banking sector and will envision how the various stakeholders can work towards finding solutions to create a robust banking sector in the country.
Director of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Errol D'Souza will deliver the keynote address. Other dignitaries that will be present on the occasion are non-executive chairman of Union Bank if India, Kewal Handa, deputy managing director of Export-Import Bank of India Debashish Mallick and director of NIBM, KL Dhingra.
The conference aims to have in-depth knowledge sharing and debates on the various dimensions of the current crisis.
Over two days, academicians, policy makers and bankers including former deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India Anand Sinha, former chairman of Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Hemat Contractor, CEO of Indian Banks' Association VG Kannan and MS Sriram from IIM Bangalore will deliberate on different aspects of banking. Research papers by senior bankers, practitioners and academicians will also be presented during the conference. Research papers will discuss the current regulatory environment, government stake holding in banks, appointment of heads of banks, profitability and new income streams, NPA management and other related subjects.
