Twenty projects would be implemented under the Kudimaramathu scheme in Salem at ₹ 5.63 crore, a release said.
District Collector S.A.Raman invited farmers associations to be part of the projects and said that only farmers associations from respective irrigated areas would be able to take up renovation works of a water body.
Under the scheme, 90% cost of the renovation works would be provided by the State Government and the remaining 10% had to be contributed by the respective farmers associations. The 10% contribution could in the form of work, money or equipment, the release said.
About 6259.68 acres would be a benefited under the scheme.
Renovation works would be conducted at Anaimadavu dam at ₹ 28 lakh and at Kariyakovil dam at ₹ 56.5 lakh. Renovation works would also be conducted along the banks of River Thirumanimutharu between Karudapatchi dam and Anaimedu dam at ₹25 lakh.
Under the scheme, 19 projects would be carried out in Sarpanga division at ₹ 5.33 crore and one project would be implemented in Mettur dam division at a cost of ₹ 29.7 lakh.

Kudimaramathu works are slated to be taken up at ₹4.97 crore in 10 lakes in Dharmapuri district.
In its wake, the district administration has called upon farmers associations organised around watersheds to come forward to participate in the works.
Water bodies falling within the Public Works Department’s control and outside of the PWD will be covered. This envisions community led desilting and strengthening of embankment works in over 10 lakes and water bodies here.
According to the administration, the State Government has announced over 1,829 kudimaramathu works to the tune of ₹499 crore across the State for the current fiscal.
Under this, 10 lakes will taken up for desilting and channels and canals, intervening water bodies, and tanks will also be desilted. Strengthening and repair of shutters, and sluices, strengthening of embankments will also be taken up.
As a result, a total of 1,234 ha of cultivable lands will be benefited.
Therefore, farmers associations with over 50% of farmers in its membership are invited to spearhead the kudimaramathu works.
Consultations are being held with the farmers associations in the district.
