BENGALURU:
HK Kumaraswamy, a Dalit MLA from Sakleshpur, will succeed AH
Vishwanath as state president of the JD(S). Kumaraswamy won from Sakleshpur, a reserved constituency in Hassan district, six consecutive times.
Former MLA Madhu Bangarappa, who is currently the party’s youth president, will be appointed as the party’s working president.
Sources said Nikil Kumaraswamy, who suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of independent Sumalatha Ambareesh in Mandya in the Lok Sabha recent elections, may replace Bangarappa.
JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda will formally make the announcement on Thursday at the party office.
Kumaraswamy and Bangarappa have been picked to ensure Dalit-OBC-Vokkaliga combination in the party.
