Police arrested 45-year-old Ben Hoffmann an hour after the alleged hour-long shooting rampage in Darwin's CBD on June 4.

Police said at the time they believed the gunman acted alone and did not believe the incident was terrorism-related.

Mr Hoffmann appeared in Darwin Local court via video link from prison on June 7, charged with four counts of murder, two of aggravated recklessly endangering life and one count of criminal damage.

He is next expected to appear in court on September 18.

Lebanese taxi driver Hassan Baydoun, 33, who was killed at the Palms Motel, was the first to die in the shooting spree which started about 5.45pm.

Nigel Hellings, 76, was then killed at Gardens Hill Crescent, before Mr Hoffmann allegedly shot and killed Michael Sisois, 57, a Greek roof tiler in the car park of the Buff Club, a popular watering hole on the Stuart Highway.

New Zealand national Rob "Kiwi Bob" Courtney, 52, who was a security guard at the Mindil Beach Casino, was the fourth victim.
