A suburban street on the Gold Coast has been placed in lockdown after a police raid reportedly uncovered an explosive device. 

Warrie Close at Paradise Point, at the northern end of the city, has been shut down following the discovery. 

Queensland Police sealed off the quiet street early on Thursday afternoon after there were reports police found explosives on a property.

A spokesperson from the Australian Border Force told the Gold Coast Bulletin that an 'operational activity' was being conducted at a residential property.

Queensland Police are assisting the ABF in their investigation.

'As this is an ongoing matter, no further information can be provided at this time,' the spokesperson said.
