Samsung trademarks ‘DepthVision Lens’ technology ahead of Galaxy Note 10 launch

“Since the Samsung trademark application was filed under Cass 9, it could refer to smartphone cameras, 3D scanning, and smartphone camera software”

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is confirmed to be unveiled on August 7th at the Unpacked event. The upcoming Note flagship is speculated to arrive in two variants this time around, with the Galaxy Note 10+ live images surfaced being the latest in a line of leaks. Now, ahead of the launch, Samsung has trademarked “DepthVision Lens” technology. Like most trademark filings, there are no details available, but it should be related to a new camera feature as the application was filed under Cass 9 that usually refers to smartphone cameras, 3D scanning, and smartphone camera software. While it is not confirmed, the DepthVision Lens” technology could be present on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ as a part of camera upgrades.

Samsung’s trademarked DepthVision Lens” camera technology could be present on the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 series.

Furthermore, since Class 9 application also refers to 3D scanning, it could be related to ToF sensor that is rumoured to a part of the quad rear camera setup on the Galaxy Note 10+. It seems likely the DepthVision lens could be Samsung’s moniker for 3D camera functions. The South Korean company also reportedly trademarked “Make & Play 3D”, further indicating the existence at the ToF sensor and related features.

Separately, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 phones are also expected to rock three-step variable aperture – f/1.5, f/1.8, and f/2.4, presumably to improve low-light photography. The recent live images leak revealed the Galaxy Note 10+ will have a centre position punch hole, vertically arranged quad rear camera setup, and an in-display Qualcomm ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for security. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and 8nm Exynos 9820 processor, depending on the region. It is likely to run on Android 9.0 Pie with OneUI on top. We should know more details soon.
