Rajkot: Two persons were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a man from Gondal on Tuesday. Police rescued the man from Thangadh and arrested the accused on the same night.
Police said the accused, Paresh Kumarkhania (35), Anil Panara (21) and their four associates had kidnapped Haresh Khasia (25) and taken him to to Thangadh with the intention to kill him owing to an old rivalry. According to police, abductors threw chilli powder on Khasia’s eyes before kidnapping him in an SUV.
Khasia’s cousin Balwant Rathod who witnessed the incident of kidnapping, alerted the police immediately. “We traced the locations of the accused and the victim on basis of their cellphone data. While we have arrested Kumarkhania and Panara but their aides, Sanjay Kumarkhania, Sagar Rathod, Gando Bawaji and Jigo Sabaria, managed to escaped,” said M N Rana, inspector with Rajkot rural local crime branch.
Meanwhile, the police investigation has revealed that while in Rajkot, Khasia had an illicit relationship with Kumarkhania’s wife. When his relationship was exposed, Khasia left Rajkot and started working as a labourer in Gondal market yard.
When Kumarkhania, a history-sheeter involved in as many as five cases, came to know about Khasia’s whereabouts in Gondal, he decided to abduct and kill him.
“We have recovered two knives, two axes and one scythe from Kumarkhania. A badly beaten up Khasia has been admitted to Rajkot civil hospital,” added Rana.
