The state government has informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that the plant being set up to convert plastic waste into fuel will become operational from August 15.

In the petitions related with garbage management in the state, the government has told the High Court that the plant being established to convert plastic waste into fuel will become operational on August 15.

The plant is being set up in Pernem, and the government has plans to sell the particular fuel to cement factories.

The High Court is hearing clubbed contempt petitions and public interest litigations related to garbage management in the state.

During the hearing on Wednesday, the government told the High Court that the problem of plastic waste will be resolved once the Pernem-based plant starts functioning to convert plastic waste into fuel.

The government apologised to the High Court for not starting the plant on earlier committed deadline of June.
