Two persons were arrested for stealing 15 cars by using a Bluetooth device that could unlock the doors of the vehicles.
South East division police said Babu from Vellore and Saddam Hussain from Chennai stole cars worth over ₹1 crore in the past few months.
Isha Pant, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East), said that police picked up the duo from a bar and questioned them.
One of the accused said he is a mechanic and had purchased a Bluetooth-enabled tablet online, said the police. Such tablets are used by car showroom staff to access cars in the premises, said the police.
The accused would come to Bengaluru and look for cars parked outside houses on which the tab would work. They would unlock the vehicles, and drive them to Chennai where they would be sold at throwaway prices, said Ms. Pant.
