AMN / Ranchi

Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind has filed a criminal writ petition in the Jharkhand High Court, on behalf of the family of Tabrez Ansari, seeking registration of criminal cases against policemen and doctors in the lynching case. In the write petition, a CBI inquiry under watch of a retired judge of the High Court has been demanded. The petitioner has also demanded that CBI report be submitted in the HC.

Gulzar Ahmed Azmi, head of Jamiat’s legal cell, gave details about the petition to media persons in Mumbai on Monday. He said that it has been demanded that guilty policemen and doctors in the Tabrez Ansari case be tried in a fast-track court and an FIR should be registered against Jail Superintendent and jail doctor. Cases should also be lodged against doctors present at the district civil hospital because both doctors did not give timely proper medical care to Tabrez otherwise he could be saved, said Azmi.

The petitioner has also urged the HC to order the state Govt to set up fast-track court according to the July 2018 order of the Supreme Court and the case should be tried as early as possible. Not only Tabrez’s case, but all cases of mob lynching and mob violence should be transferred to fast-track court and they should be disposed of within six months. The writ petition has been filed on behalf of Tabrez’s younger uncle Maqsood Ahmed through the legal cell of Jamiat.
