Belagavi: District minister
Satish Jarkiholi instructed officials to immediately start M-Sand units in the district.
At a review
meeting of various departments at the DC office here on Tuesday, the
minister told officials officers to make regular checks of the quality of M-Sand and install CCTV cameras at M-Sand units to prevent its illegal transport.
Deputy commissioner S B Bommanhalli said 48 M-Sand units were working in the district and re-tendering is needed to start 27 more units. He said notices will be issued to nine units that are yet to start production.
Meanwhile, he directed officials of pollution control board to carry out tree plantation drives at stone quarries and crusher units.
Meanwhile, it has been decided to issue notices to industrialists who did not start factories despite taking land through Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) and taking additional measures to develop Kittur Industrial Area.
Jarkiholi also directed officers to handover the land if anybody comes forward to start
industries in the identified areas and ensure that the land is not blocked without industrial activities. He also instructed officials to develop industrial areas in Nesaragi near the city.
Jarkiholi asked officials to prepare proposals to establish solid waste management units in Belagavi South and Belagavi North considering the rapid growth of the city. He told pollution control board officers to ensure that no industrial waste gets mixed with river water. Bommanhalli asked officials to prepare a detailed report on why river water was being contaminated in the district.
Jarkiholi directed District Industrial Centre (DIC) officials to identify 20-30 acres to establish small and medium scale industries. DIC joint director Dodda Basavaraj said 100 acres has been identified at Bastwad village, around 5km from Udyambag industrial area.
Belagavi City Corporation commissioner Shashidhar Kurer, city police commissioner B S Lokesh Kumar, additional DC Budeppa HB, ZP CEO Rajendra KV and senior officers were present in the meeting.
