Perth 'dunny creeper' to fight charges at trial
A Perth man accused of lurking in women's public toilets will fight the charges at trial, despite intending to admit to a "large proportion" of the state's case.
Graham Dunlop, 64, was allegedly caught on CCTV in April creeping in and out of female public toilets at Claremont Quarter and a shower block in a Northbridge backpackers.
He is also accused of committing an indecent act in public in Cottesloe, and an earlier offence in Claremont.
At a previous bail hearing, Mr Dunlop's lawyer, Wendy Hughes, argued her client had an obsessive compulsive disorder, and his actions in entering the public amenities were not sexually motivated.
He is charged with five counts of committing an indecent act, and one count of trespass in relation to the Northbridge backpackers charge.
Ms Hughes had planned to seek clarification from state prosecutors as to what part of Mr Dunlop's actions were indecent, questioning if trespassing charges may be more relevant.
However, on Wednesday, the charges remained unchanged, and Mr Dunlop entered pleas of not guilty to all.
"A large proportion of the prosecution's case will be conceded," Ms Hughes said.
The trial was set down for October 31, and is expected to take one day.
During an earlier bail hearing, the court heard Mr Dunlop suffered from an obsessive compulsive disorder that dated back decades, prior to his marriage of 37 years.
Magistrate Dean Potter, at the time, said Mr Dunlop had committed similar offending in the past.
He said the evidence alleged Mr Dunlop "entered a public toilet and then walked effectively immediately out of it".
"It's a case that's quite different for the matters we see for this type of charge [indecent act in public]," he said.
"There's no overt, indecent act in this behaviour."
His wife Michelle was in court on Wednesday to support her husband who had, prior to his alleged offending, tried to wean himself off medication prescribed by a psychiatrist to treat his obsessive compulsive disorder.
Mr Dunlop is the managing director of a cleaning products company.
He is on home detention bail.
