SLAN Mind Games Championship to be held across four cities

HYDERABAD: Sports Local Area Network (SLAN), the first of its kind sports engagement platform in kids, amateur, and non-professional sports world, will organise India’s biggest “Mind Games Championship” for children. As part of the event, chess and scrabble tournaments will be conducted in the U-9, 12 and 16 age groups. Dairy Day Ice Creams is the title sponsor for the first edition of SLAN Mind Games Championship.
The five-weekend championship will be held in Hyderabad (July 7), Chennai (July 21), Bangalore (July 28) and Vijayawada (August 4). And the winners of each city will travel to Hyderabad for the final on August 11.
The Championships shall be governed by the General Regulations of FIDE competitions for chess and of the Scrabble Association. An entry fee of Rs 499 is applicable on every participant.
Aparna Mulukutla, CEO, SLAN Sports, said, “Mind Games Championship is a unique concept that will bring out the best brains in the country through their skill at boardgames like chess and scrabble. While SLAN was started with the objective of promoting a sports culture in India, we feel the need to engage young brains through such thought-oriented mind games that encourage strategic thinking. We are receiving great response from schools and parents of children to enrol their kids for this championship that will revolutionize the way in which ‘Mind Game’ competitions are held in the country.
“This Mind Games Championship to be organized across four metro cities will go down as a sensation among the school-going children, their parents, and teachers.”
Participants may register by logging into www.slansports.com or via ‘SLAN Sports App’.
