GANDHINAGAR: Minister of state for home Pradeepsinh Jadeja told the assembly on Tuesday that
love affair was the reason behind 90% of the cases of missing children. He was replying to a question by Vav MLA Geniben Thakore. The minister reiterated that a majority of missing children return to their homes.
Thakore had sought to know if there are instances of missing organs when the children return to their homes. “There is not a single case of organ trading in cases of missing children,” the minister replied.
The government informed the House that 3,327 children went missing between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019 while the same number was 3,061 in 2017-2018. According to the data tabled in the assembly, 2,695 children who went missing returned back. This figure for 2017-18 was 2,744.
In Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat 1,406 cases were reported.
