Faced with a barrage of questions from the opposition on the 10% quota for economically weaker sections proposed by the Centre, CM Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday told the assembly that his government is firm on continuing with the 69% reservation in admissions to professional colleges in the state, and an all-party meeting would be convened to discuss the proposal, reports Julie Mariappan.
The MCI had set June 28 as the deadline for states to submit application for 25% hike in MBBS seats to implement the quota. "We have 31% open category being implemented successfully ... The Centre is conspiring to kill social justice," DMK leader Stalin said, likening EWS quota to slow poison.
