NEW DELHI:
Culture minister Pralhad Singh Patel told Parliament on Tuesday that the Archaeological Survey of India conserves over 1000 temples in the country with the highest number in
Karnataka, followed by
Uttar Pradesh and
Tamil Nadu.
In a reply to a query in
Rajya Sabha, Patel said ASI conserves 242 temples in Karnataka, 132 in Uttar Pradesh, 120 in Tamil Nadu and 96 in Madhya Pradesh, while the total number of temples manages by the country’s chief conservation body is 1,081.
