MADURAI
After a three-month battle, teaching and non-teaching faculty of M.S.S. Wakf Board College will receive their salaries.
Regional Joint Director (RJD) of Collegiate Education R. Baskaran said that the Government Order 1021 was invoked, allowing the Joint Director to permit monthly disbursal of salary for six months following a direction from the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on May 29.
“Apart from disbursal of salaries, we can also look into pending pensions and permitting refresher courses,” he said.
The RJD also stated that the senior most faculty member Mohammed Ali Jinnah from the Physics department would serve as Principal (in-charge).
R. Athiapparajan, a representative belonging to MUTA from Wakf Board College, who led the protest against the management, said that the faculty members are finally relieved.
“When we first began mobilizing people in June, we barely had any response. With time, the issue gained stride,” he said. Not receiving salary during Ramzan hurt many teachers who are Muslims, he added.
“We are withdrawing the protest against the organisation,” he stated.
