A 52-year-old DNA reader Amod Biwalkar wrote to us exposing how AC locals, which were started with much fanfare in December 2017, are facing leakage-ridden.
He was travelling in an AC local when he spotted the leakages which allowed water to seep inside the compartments.
Biwalkar, a resident of Borivali, had taken the issue to the railway authorities, however, no action has been taken.
"I take AC locals to commute to office at Marine Lines daily. That day I boarded the train at 7:45 am from Borivali.
"When I reached Andheri, I realised that the seat near the window was all wet due to leakage from AC.
"I had no other option but to travel till Marine Lines sitting on that wet seat," said Biwalkar.
"I informed the railway authorities about the incident immediately. I took to Twitter regarding the same.
"However, no action has been taken so far. Why should I spend Rs 1,766 monthly for such inferior services?" asked Biwalkar.
When DNA sought a reply from the railways, a Western Railway spokesperson said, "We release trains from the workshop after proper checking. We maintain the trains regularly, including its doors, windows, ACs, and fans."
Confirming that the officials have received a complaint about leakage, the spokesperson said: "We will investigate it resolve this as soon as possible."
