LUCKNOW: A man was arrested on Monday for hacking a 60-year-old man to death to exact revenge for his dead father, who was killed 26 years ago.
Police said the accused
Kalyan Singh murdered the victim Sunderlal with a sickle around 9pm on Sunday, while the latter was sitting at a tea shop in a Gosainganj village.
Sunderlal was rushed to a community health centre, but was declared brought dead. The accused and the victims were labourers by profession.
Police said Sundarlal had killed the accused’s father Ram Swaroop in 1993, when Kalyan was a child. Though Sunderlal had gone to prison for the crime, but was released on bail after a few months.
The 26-year-old accused told the police that he had wanted to
avenge his father’s death by murdering Sunderlal.
Station house officer (Gosaiganj) Vijay Kumar Singh said, “We came to know about Kalyan’s whereabouts and arrested him later near a highway restaurant on Sultanpur Road.”
