Sales rose 1.9 percent for FCA US in June thanks to a record month for its Ram pickup.
Ram now has two redesigned trucks on the market in the 1500 and the heavy-duty models. The previous-generation Ram Classic continues to chug along as well, helping the nameplate nearly double its lead over the Chevrolet Silverado on the year to about 44,000 units. Ram pickup sales were up 56 percent last month to 68,098.
While Ram had its best month since the brand was spun off from Dodge in 2009, Jeep sales sank 12 percent behind declines from the Compass, Wrangler, Cherokee and Renegade. The versatile Gladiator midsize pickup had 4,231 deliveries in June, bringing its total sales to 7,252 since its spring launch. FCA says the Gladiator captured an estimated 7 percent of the midsize pickup market after only one full month on dealership lots.
For Dodge, the surging Charger was a bright spot with a 36 percent gain from June 2018. Dodge has sold 18,330 Chargers in the last two months after selling 26,716 in the first four months of 2019. The Charger, which has a Widebody model coming in early 2020, is up 8.8 percent through June.

Quote: "For the first-half of 2019, Ram has been on a tear since we made the strategic decision to enter the year with a three-truck strategy," U.S. sales head Reid Bigland said in a statement. "The new Ram 1500, Ram Classic and Heavy Duty are all generating a huge response from customers and critics alike. This is now the third month Ram pickup sales have surpassed 60,000 since December. Our dealers had a steady stream of customers all month long."
Did you know? June marked Jeep's sixth consecutive year-over-year decline in U.S. monthly sales.
