The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will hold meeting with representatives of home and tribal affairs ministries on July 2 to discuss the fate of 5000 tribal families from Chhattisgarh who have been forced to leave due to Naxal violence. These families are now living in 248 settlements in forests of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra in pathetic conditions. Tribal rights activists say the people living in the settlements dont have ration cards or voter IDs, and so they are unable to avail benefits of various government schemes.
