Nagpur: Rappers and beat boxers of the city set the stage on fire at Goosebumps Cafe at a programme organized to mark World Social Media Day on Monday.
The Walnut Folks had organized the social media gala titled So-Me Gala’ to appreciate and honour the talented people who make social media so fun and keep them hooked with witty comments and, at the same time, give insightful thoughts on various issues.
The programme was organized to highlight the fun element of social media apps in daily life and how youngsters are making the most of it. Walnut Folks is a digital marketing agency which aims to promote the local talent who often don’t get a chance to showcase their art.
The event began with a melodious performance by Shubham Chopkar playing the flute. Known by his social media name ‘Basuriwala’, he performed songs like ‘Agar tum saath ho’, ‘Jashn-e-bahara’ and ‘Despacito’. Sagar and Sourabh from the band ‘Kabira’ together presented some latest romantic such as ‘Tujhe kitna chahne lage hum’ and ‘Yeh jawani yeh deewani’.
Sahiba Dhandhania, founder of Walnut Folks, said, “We came up with idea of ‘So-Me Gala’ to encourage the young talent of the city. We have a team of young people working in the field of digital marketing which helped me organize this event.”
The programme proceeded with rappers taking over the stage with some throbbing beats and thrilling music by ‘Nagpur’s Artists and Rappers Community’, which included four minutes of DJ and scratching, followed by beatboxing and rapping for 12 minutes.
Singer Nehal Khan engaged the audience with soulful voice. The show saw a standup comedy by Yashvardhan Choudhary, followed by closing melody on the mash up of songs such as ‘Illahi and ‘Suraj dooba hai yaro’.
