LUDHIANA: A thief barged into a bank in Gahour village on Monday and decamped with a microwave oven after failing to find cash.
In his police complaint, Namanpreet Singh, the branch manager of the private bank said that the security guard at the bank called him on Monday morning and informed him that locks of the bank were open. He added that after that he went to the bank premises and also informed police.
The complainant told police that upon checking, he found that somebody had stolen a microwave oven worth Rs 3,500 from the bank.
On being informed, personnel from Dakha Police station reached the spot and started probe into the matter.
Police later booked the unidentified accused under sections 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 380 (Theft in dwelling house, etc) and 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
