Rains in Mumbai Live news: Financial capital paralysed\, Maharashtra government declares holiday
As incessant rainfall wreaks havoc across Mumbai for the second consecutive day, the Maharashtra state government declared a precautionary public holiday for the city, Mumbai Suburban and Thane district Tuesday morning.
The Central Railway (CR), keeping in mind safety issues, suspended suburban train services as rain flooded tracks at several areas between Mumbai-Thane. Western Railway services were also hit.

The downpour in Mumbai has also disrupted flight operations, throwing schedules awry. More than 60 flights have been diverted to and from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to neighbouring airports and several have been cancelled.

It's Mumbai's second highest 24-hour rain since 1975. The highest has been during the deluge year of 2005 .
Indian Navy deploys various teams to provide assistance to rain hit and stranded people, in Kurla area following a request by BMC. About 1000 people have been shifted to safety with the help of NDRF, fire brigade, Naval teams as well as local volunteers.

Road traffic also continued to be affected for the second consecutive day in the city and suburbs as many areas were waterlogged, the subways in Andheri, Jogeshwari, Vile Parle and Dahisar flooded.
The CR train services, which were earlier suspended between Thane-Kurla, were suspended from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Thane due to tracks getting submerged at various locations on the route and delays were reported on WR suburban network.
