Mumbai rains: BEST buses submerged in water, 152 breakdowns

MUMBAI: Amid rains and waterlogging in various parts of Mumbai on Tuesday, many BEST buses faced damages and breakdowns. In all, 58 buses were stuck in water out of which 42 were removed. A total 152 buses faced breakdown and 132 have been attended to, said BEST chief spokesperson Hanumant Gophane.
The BEST has deployed bus control staff across the city, while buses are plying with caution. “Those which have routes passing through waterlogged roads are being diverted,” an official stated.
BEST has carried out diversions for buses on 64 bus routes at 16 waterlogged locations across island city and suburbs. Passengers have to take long detours on various routes.
