This Ferrari F12 Driver’s Mistake Had Expensive Consequences

To say that something like this wouldn’t have happened to an Audi R8 or a Lamborghini Huracan is actually fair, because it’s people who own ultra-powerful rear wheel driven exotics, like the Ferrari F12, that seem to “always” get in trouble when it comes to slippery surfaces.

This most recent incident took place this past weekend in China, where the driver of a red F12berlinetta floored the throttle at a very unfavorable moment, sending the car sliding into the concrete barrier. That is one very expensive mistake.

Judging from the dashcam footage, it would appear that the Ferrari was already somewhat out-of-control as it made its way past the cammer, which means the driver may have been weaving through traffic.

Not that putting yourself in this type of situation isn’t bad enough, but to do so in a 730 HP (741 PS) RWD monster is indicative of poor judgement. Unlike some of its rivals, the F12berlinetta was notorious for being perhaps a little too powerful for its own benefit. Its 6.3-liter V12 engine also produced 509 lb-ft (690 Nm) of torque, helping you get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.1 seconds.

It’s a shame that some Ferrari owners don’t seem to understand certain basic concepts such as grip. Just last week we revisited a video where somebody in a 458 Italia lost control in a nearly identical fashion – also on the highway and also in the rain.

In the end, let’s hope that the person driving this F12 learned their lesson and will show more restraint next time they get behind the wheel of such an expensive car.
