  • Shiv Sena trolled on social media as rains cripple Mumbai

    The Shiv Sena, which has been ruling the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for over two decades, was trolled on social media as the city came to a standstill after incessant rains, which claimed at least 21 lives in a wall collapse here on July 2.

  • Train Updates: Central Railway

    Central Railway resumes local train services partially. Four special services operating from CSMT to Kalyan, Badlapur, Karjat and Titwala. Also, one special train from Thane to Dadar.

    On wall collapse in Malad East:
     21 dead and 78 injured in the incident where a wall collapsed on hutments in Pimpripada area, due to heavy rainfall.

  • Additional Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Joshi, on the Malad wall collapse, told CNN News18, "We will inquire about Malad incident, the slums were built illegally there. It was forest department land, we had told all our assistant commissioners to be on duty since 1 am yesterday."


    "There were high tides of about 4.92 metres at 11.30 am, that is why we couldn't pump out water on the central line. 53 flooding spots were identified last night," he added.

  • Update from GoAir:

    Due to heavy rains that have caused flight disruptions, GoAir is accommodating impacted customers on alternate GoAir flights within 24 hours (3rd July) subject to availability. Customers who cancel flights for today/within 24 hours will receive full refund.

  • 15-year-old girl trapped beneath wall collapse debris dies

    Efforts by rescue workers in the congested Pimpripada area of north Mumbai to get a 15-year- old girl out of the debris of a wall which collapsed, proved futile as she was brought out dead.

    The toll in the wall collapse tragedy rose to 19, with the body of the girl, Sanchita Ganore, being brought out of the debris in the afternoon, almost 12 hours after she was trapped beneath it. A doctor on the spot said the medical team tried their best but couldn't save her. (PTI)

  • In a tweet, BMC has said that its six pumping stations pumped out more than 14,000 million litres of water and discharged it into the sea. This, it claims, is more than the combined capacity of Tulsi and Vihar lakes.

  • A regional news channel has reported that Central Railway ran four special suburban trains from CSMT on the down line, to Thane and beyond, a while back. Services have not normalised on the route yet. Moneycontrol could not independently verify this report.

  • Central Railway has cancelled 11041 Mumbai-Chennai Express JCO 2.7.2019.

  • Mumbai airport has said: Currently, the secondary runway is in use. Our team is trying their best to bring the main runway back in operation and this may take up to 48 hours.

  • The chief minister has ordered shifting of people living in hutments along hill slopes, citing possibility of heavy rain in the coming days.
