Commuters have rushed to the defence of a woman who was filmed shoving an elderly man from a seat on a tram.
Social media users flocked to Instagram to support the woman after she was involved in the confrontation on an Adelaide tram on Monday.
'We don't know her story,' one person said.
'She seems genuinely distressed and he doesn't flinch or seem surprised by her reaction.'
The incident was captured on mobile phone and showed the female traveller as a man separately boarded and took a seat.

The woman was sitting alone when the man boarded the tram and sat beside her, before she began yelling abuse at him
The man ignored the woman and remained seated after she screamed at him to 'go away'.
The woman suddenly shoved him, nearly forcing him off the seat.
She pushed him a second time before the man eventually got up and moved to the seat behind her.
'F*** off!' she shouted as he moved away from her.
While some commuters have been quick to defend the woman, others jumped in to say the man was in the right.
Jaxon Samwell was a passenger on the tram and recorded the argument. He said the pair appeared to be strangers.
'I can almost be absolutely certain that he did nothing wrong as we would have seen,' Jaxon said.
'We presume that she was just a grumpy lady or having a bad day.'
Jaxon said he felt sympathetic towards the man because he had every right to sit there.
'I felt sorry for the guy because it didn't seem like he did anything wrong,' he said.

She repeatedly shoved him and told him to 'go away' before he eventually moved to the seat behind
'It seemed pretty rude of her as it is public transport and he is perfectly allowed to sit there.'
Jaxon said the tram was very busy and there was at least one person on every row of chairs.
But some social media users also defended the man.
'He sat on the first free seat near the entry door, was most likely going one or two stops,' one person commented.
'She was just p***ed as she had to move her s**t from the spare seat and could hog both which happens all to often.'
Another one commented: 'Disgusting that she thinks it's okay to do that to an old man! What's even more disgusting is that no one stopped it from happening.'
