FALL RIVER — A juvenile was taken into custody Monday evening after another juvenile alleged the teen pointed a firearm at him during an argument outside a Buffinton Street residence, police said.

Police responded to a residence on the 400 block of Buffinton Street about 7:30 p.m. and spoke with a 16-year-old male, according to police spokesman Sgt. J.T. Hoar.

The juvenile identified a 15-year-old boy who he said pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at him during an argument over who the victim was choosing to spend time with, Hoar said.

The victim and the juvenile he accused of brandishing the weapon “in a threatening manner” are known to each other, Hoar said.

The juvenile victim directed police to another multi-family home a few doors down on Buffinton Street where he believed the 15-year-old would be, according to Hoar.

Officers went to that address and knocked on the door. Hoar said a third juvenile answered, and falsely claimed the juvenile who police were looking for was not inside.

The juvenile sought for brandishing the weapon was ultimately located inside the apartment and taken into custody. According to Hoar, the juvenile was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possessing a firearm without a license and carrying a firearm without a license.

Police executed a warrant search of the apartment where the juvenile was located but did not recover a firearm, Hoar said.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of another 16-year-old boy who a second juvenile victim alleged pointed a firearm at him at one point during the argument, according to Hoar.
