Teenage girl among eight arrested in drug raids
A 15-year-old girl was among eight people, some of whom were related, arrested as part of an investigation into the methamphetamine and heroin trade.
Police raided fives properties across south-west Sydney on Tuesday morning, including one where the girl was, as part of a seven-month investigation that led to three arrests earlier in the year.
When police officers entered a house in Bass Hill, near Villawood, they were allegedly confronted by a 36-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman holding knives.
But police managed to avoid a fight and the two eventually lowered their weapons. They were then arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station.
At the other houses, which are in Fairfield East, Villawood, Guilford West and Canley Heights, police arrested another six people including the 15-year-old and three women in their mid-30s along with two men aged 52 and 36.
All six were taken to Bankstown and Fairfield police stations, where police are expecting to press charges.
Officers searching the properties found two knives, cash and illegal drugs.
Two men and one woman who were arrested as part of the same investigation on January 31 are before the courts facing drugs charges.
