Nagpur: MLC Prakash Gabjhiye has urged chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to implement property tax exemption for properties up to 500 sq ft for the entire state and not to restrict the benefit only up to Mumbai.
Gajbhiye said it will be an injustice to lakhs of people from the state if the exemption is given just for Mumbai. “It is the state’s capital and Nagpur second capital. Therefore, CM should also implement it for Nagpur, followed by 36 districts,” he said.
Fadnavis announced the exemption on Monday during the ongoing session of the state legislature in Mumbai.

Gajbhiye further said that people, especially slum-dwellers, are getting high property tax demand notes in Nagpur. “Slum-dwellers cannot afford to pay property tax. Therefore, slum-dwellers of Nagpur and other districts should also get the facility,” he said.
He also demanded removal of water meters from slums. “Slum-dwellers are unable to pay the bills. They should get water without any charges,” he said.
